Rectangular drums from CurTec, like all other packaging from the brand, are suitable for the safe transport of hazardous goods. In addition to the innovative design and patented closure, CurTec now introduces a new UN packaging type: 3H2.
Previously, 4H2, which has been successfully used for plastic boxes for years, was applied to rectangular drums. So why choose 3H2?

The difference lies in the validity period and performance level of the UN marking. Both 3H (plastic jerrycans) and 4H (plastic boxes) can be used for rectangular or square containers.
CurTec wanted the new rectangular drums to be broadly applicable, which is why 3H2 was chosen. It offers maximum flexibility and aligns seamlessly with the existing UN assortment.
Type 3H1 is familiar: the “1” indicates a non-removable top with an opening ≤70 mm, suitable for most jerrycans. 3H2 is rare because it can only be applied to rectangular containers with a removable lid (open top). Combining these characteristics while still passing the UN test is particularly challenging.
CurTec generally uses screw lids for round open-top containers. This type of closure is robust and easy to use, as the container is securely locked into the lid. Most rectangular open-top containers use a press-on lid held in place by clamps. The stricter the UN requirements, the more clamping is needed – making opening and closing less convenient.
To solve this, CurTec adapted the screw-principle for rectangular containers: a patented twist-slide mechanism locks the container into the lid. This allows extremely high UN certification while maintaining ease of use.
