CurTec cares about the future of packaging. In our sustainability vision, we commit to integrating sustainability into the design process of new CurTec products and to replacing finite raw materials with biobased and recycled alternatives. ECO LITE drums are the result of that commitment.
ECO LITE drums have a 30% lower carbon footprint — the lowest carbon footprint in their class*. With 30% biobased plastic, an enhanced design, and a tapered shape, they reduce the use of fossil resources and improve storage and transport efficiency. Lightweight, strong, and sustainable, they are designed for a greener supply chain.
Part biobased
ECO LITE drums are made from a blend of 30% biobased plastic and 70% fossil-based plastic. Biobased plastics are derived from renewable sources and can help reduce reliance on finite fossil resources while contributing to a lower carbon footprint.
Enhanced design
Smart design choices, such as replacing mounted handgrips with molded handgrips and the rubber gasket with an injection-molded seal, further reduce the carbon footprint of ECO LITE drums.
Reduced weight
ECO LITE drums are suitable for shipping hazardous solids and have successfully passed rigorous drop tests. Thinner walls, smoother lines, and no unnecessary details ensure that the design uses as little plastic as possible without compromising strength.
Optimized pallet efficiency
The tapered shape allows more empty drums to be shipped on a pallet, further reducing the carbon footprint of the drum and the supply chain.
Four capacities
We are launching ECO LITE drums in four capacities:
Smart design choices, such as molded handgrips and an integrated seal, help reduce the use of materials and energy.
ECO LITE drums are made from a blend of 30% biobased plastic and 70% fossil-based plastic. Biobased plastic from renewable sources can help reduce reliance on fossil resources and contribute to a lower carbon footprint.
Made entirely from mono-material, ECO LITE drums are designed for easy and efficient recycling.
Thinner walls, smoother lines, and no excessive features ensure that the design uses as little plastic as possible without compromising strength.
Sustainable supply chain
Greater volume efficiency for empty drums helps lower the carbon footprint of the supply chain.
ECO LITE drums have been carefully designed and manufactured for multiple use. Choosing to reuse a CurTec drum is a responsible and sustainable choice.
Lower supply chain costs
Handling time can be reduced because opening and closing are faster and unambiguous, thanks to the defined closing position of the quarter-turn screw lid.
Storage space can be reduced by stacking empty drums.
No investment in tools is required: opening and closing require no significant force.
More operational reliability
The quarter-turn closure with fixed closing position provides clarity and efficiency: it takes less time to close, and the defined closing position helps ensure proper closure and supports compliance with the UN certification.
Satisfied users
ECO LITE drums are user-friendly thanks to their fast, easy closure and the absence of sharp edges and corners.
The full opening simplifies the handling of liners.
An optional vent prevents a partially filled drum from imploding during air transport and allows normal opening.
Avoid loss of content and related costs
The robust construction protects against impacts.
ECO LITE drums are UN certified (1H2) and suitable for shipping hazardous materials in Packing Groups I, II, and III.
UN markings represent safety and consistent quality assurance.
Prevent products from losing value
The integrated seal in the screw lid provides a barrier against moisture ingress.
Sealing loops on the drum and lid can be used with sealing strips to make tampering visible.
ECO LITE drums are made from food-contact-grade materials.
