Safer internal transport of pharmaceutical powders

The challenge

A pharmaceutical CDMO needed to ensure the safe storage and internal distribution of powdered ingredients used in drug-product manufacturing. The powders were transported between weighing and production zones in sealed disposable bags, requiring repeated manual handling and emptying. The company wanted a safer, more ergonomic and reusable solution that could support a more automated process.

55-liter Total Opening Drum in tumbler

The solution

CurTec proposed a 55-liter Total Opening Drum for use with a newly installed lift and tumbler. The robust drum could be clamped and withstand the pressure applied during mechanical emptying, while its dimensions accommodated the limited height of the processing rooms. CurTec also supplied the documentation and certificates required to demonstrate its suitability for handling pharmaceutical ingredients.

The benefits

The reusable drums made transferring pharmaceutical powders between processing zones safer, easier and faster. They reduced repetitive manual handling, saved valuable operating time and lowered the impact of the transfer process on the production environment. After use, the drums can be washed, dried and returned to the internal transport cycle, replacing the previous single-use bag system.

Every critical material brings its own handling, protection and logistics challenges. Talk to CurTec about a packaging solution designed around your product, process and supply chain.
