A global life science company relied on rectangular pails from a non-European supplier, creating exposure to logistical and geopolitical disruption. Operators also found the existing packaging difficult and time-consuming to open and close, with tools required to secure the lids. At the same time, inefficient pallet utilization increased inbound and outbound transport requirements.

CurTec developed a new 32-liter Fold Pack pail, later extending the range with a 46-liter version. Folding side handles allow the press-on lid to be opened and closed in under 20 seconds without tools, while integrated sealing pins support secure, tamper-evident closure. The square design was optimized for nesting, stacking, CP3 and CP5 pallets and automated high-bay warehouses.
The new packaging reduced dependence on long-distance supply and simplified daily handling for operators. Pallets accommodated nearly 20% more filled containers, while optimized nesting and stacking reduced storage and transport requirements. Faster, tool-free handling and improved pallet utilization delivered considerable transport and handling cost savings.
