A marine biotechnology company wanted to improve how a powdered antifouling ingredient was added to liquid coatings during manufacturing. The dosing process needed to eliminate dust formation, reduce operator exposure and ensure the complete quantity of powder could be added to each batch.
The company developed a lightweight dissolvable container that could be placed directly into the coating without being opened. Because this primary container was designed to dissolve rapidly, it required robust secondary packaging to protect it against impacts during handling and transport.

The dissolvable container is placed inside a CurTec Packo jar made from HDPE. The robust screw-lid jar and locking mechanism provide secure closure and improve impact resistance throughout the supply chain.
The inner container can hold between 300 and 800 grams of powdered material and is added unopened to the liquid coating batch. It then dissolves without leaving packaging residues that could affect the coating system.
The system enables dust-free charging of the complete powder dose, reducing direct handling and improving safety in the paint-processing environment. It also minimizes product loss and helps manufacturers achieve more consistent and controlled dosing.
Extensive testing confirmed that the dissolvable packaging could be used without compromising coating performance. The Packo jar provides the durable external protection needed to transport the lightweight inner container safely to the point of use.
