Change control: Colorants

July 17th, 2017

In case you have been purchasing dark red Packo lids or sets, we would like to inform you, as part of our change control protocol, about a planned change of colorant which is used to create dark red Packo products with product codes ending on 048/ 480.

Our current supplier informed us that one of the pigments used to make colorant 480 did not comply with migration legislation anymore. The recipe of the colorant had to be changed to enable us to manufacture food safe products.

However, after testing it on lids, it turned out we were no longer able to produce the original dark red color. We have tested colorants from other suppliers and have chosen a new masterbatch from a different supplier because its final color best matches the current dark red Packo lids.

The following color codes are involved:
43XX-XX-480 (dark red lid)
43XX-XX-048 (set with white pot and dark red lid)

The last three digits of the product code indicate the color or color combination of a CurTec product. The change of colorant will not affect the product codes.

The annex on color codes of the Declaration of Compliance for Food Contact has been updated accordingly. In case you want to receive a Declaration of Compliance for Food Contact,  please contact your inside sales representative.

Acceptance
As of August 17th, we will use the new dark red masterbatch for the manufacture of products with colorant 480. Please contact us before August 17th, should you require additional information to make this change in your quality system. In case you do not reply before that date, CurTec will assume you have formally accepted this change.

In case you have been purchasing blue CurTec packaging in recent years, we would like to inform you, as part of our change control protocol, about a planned change of colorant which is used to create various blue containers and lids.

The current colorant has been causing us trouble in production for some time now: color changes on products have been taken longer than necessary because the colorant was hard to flush out of the molding machines, leaving traces of blue on other products and causing waste.

By changing the recipe of the blue colorant slightly, we are able to improve efficiency in production and deliver blue products according to planning in future.

The following color codes are involved:
XXXX-XX-605 (blue)
XXXX-XX-855 (white/ blue)
XXXX-XX-915 (grey/ blue)

The last three digits of the product code indicate the color or color combination of a CurTec product. The change of colorant will not affect the product codes.

The annex on color codes of the Declaration of Compliance for Food Contact has been updated accordingly. In case you want to receive a Declaration of Compliance for Food Contact,  please contact your inside sales representative.

Acceptance
Starting next month on August 7th, we will use the new blue colorant for the manufacture of the products with the above mentioned color codes. Please contact us before August 7th, 2017 should you require additional information to make this change in your quality system. In case you do not reply before this date, CurTec will assume that you have formally accepted this change.
