Mail distribution has changed enormously in the past few decades, partly due to changes in legislation. Due to the fast and ergonomic handling of mail, the use of reusable packaging remains efficient. The distribution furthermore takes places within a closed loop, which means that the crates quickly return for new mail distribution. The distribution of the crates can take place in different ways: between a central distribution centre and depots, or between distribution centres and distributors of the mail.
