Distributing APIs
Cleanliness is paramount at pharmaceutical companies, which is particularly evident in the attention and time they devote to cleaning processing systems and areas, but also due to the fact that cardboard and wood are mostly banished within facilities. For storage and transport of APIs from one production area to another, stainless steel bulk containers and CurTec drums are used due to their cleanliness, overall quality and optimal user convenience.
For the time being, fibre drums are still permitted for the supply of intermediates but are not desirable because they are susceptible to moisture, offer less protection and cause contamination. Intermediates as well as end products are stored in refrigerated areas, and APIs are always protected against air and moisture thanks to the water vapour tight closure of CurTec packaging. The wide neck opening ensures that contents are accessible and easy to remove, even in a plastic bag. CurTec drums also offer advantages to end users compared to other packaging because they can be opened and closed many times over without the loss of any valuable content or degradation caused by air, light or water.
