Coloids

Graphite emulsions are used in manufacturing countless industrial and consumer products. Graphite has three remarkable characteristics: it lubricates, it loosens and it conducts electricity. Colloidal dispersions are made by dissolving graphite powder in a liquid (oil or water) and are used as a lubricant in forging steel, a detaching agent in die-casting aluminium and zinc and an electrical conductor in cathode ray tubes for televisions.

CurTec produces 26 litre wide neck drums with a customised wall thickness for storing and shipping these graphite emulsions. The wall thickness has been increased to give the contents more protection during production and transport. After being filled, the drums are rolled to mix the components of the dispersion. After being rolled for a certain amount of time, a vacuum can form in the drum, but the reinforced sides preserve the drum's shape and characteristics. These drums can also withstand shrink-wrapping more easily.
