Although plastic containers have many advantages in comparison with versions made from steel, they still have certain disadvantages, one of which is the permeability of plastic. CurTec has found a solution to this problem by the use of fluorinated containers.
Fluorination is a process which involves treating under certain conditions a standard plastic container with fluorine to create a permanent barrier preventing the material inside the container from seeping out. Fluorination is also used in the manufacture of plastic petrol containers for the car industry. The process not only has a protective function but also improves the thermal stability and chemical resistance of the plastic. Fluorinated drums are a first class alternative to glass and metal packaging which are usually used.
